Take Advantage of Faculty Expertise to Select your Schedule!

Every undergraduate student who is seeking to obtain a degree should speak with a faculty advisor prior to registration each semester. New freshmen receive advising at CUSTOMS - MTSU's new student orientation program.  Information about CUSTOMS is mailed to students upon their acceptance. 

Obtaining an advisor is easy: Call the department where you intend to major (see phone numbers listed below) and ask to be assigned to a faculty advisor. Students who attend a summer orientation session will meet with faculty advisors as part of that program. However, we still encourage such students to contact their major department's office to have a permanent advisor assigned to them after they arrive for classes in the fall.

If you are undecided as to a major at the present time, contact an academic advisor in the Academic Support Center (615-898-2339) or contact the academic advisor in the college which most interests you (see below).

Additionally, students who are required to take ACT/COMPASS prescribed courses can be advised by a counselor in the University College Advising Center who will work with them until all developmental requirements have been completed.

Advising is essential! Don't risk delaying your graduation by taking the wrong classes or taking them in the wrong order. If you are a transfer student, be sure to take copies of your transfer course evaluation and/or your transcripts with you when you meet your advisor.

Regents Online Degree Program

Credits earned in all Tennessee Board of Regents Online Degree Programs (RODP) are accepted by MTSU; however, the credits may not apply to all degree programs offered by MTSU. Consult your academic advisor to determine applicability of RODP courses to majors other than those offered through the RODP.
