AASA Committees & Planners
AASA has
six committees, each designed to promote a specific aspect of the Association's
general objectives. Members are encouraged, though not required, to join
any committee(s) and may do so by contacting the respective chairpersons.
Academic
Affairs
Develops,
coordinates, facilitates, and implements academic support services for
the AASA constituency specifically and the MTSU community in general.
Cultural
Affairs
Serves as the liaison to members of the AASA and African organizations
in an effort to bring about an understanding of African culture and heritage,
both past and present.
Community
Affairs
Serves as the liaison between the AASA and the MTSU community while coordinating
the associations community outreach and volunteer efforts.
Political
Affairs and Grievances
Assesses the concerns of the AASA student membership while identifying
and institutionalizing practices and other practices are believed or perceived
to be adverse to their well being; acts as a third party utilizing the
concepts of student advocacy and prevention, rather than crises intervention
whenever possible; finally, keeps the AASA membership informed of all
Association efforts and directions.
Programmer
Ensures that AASA programming efforts be geared towards planning, developing,
and implementing social, educational, and cultural programs that reflect
the current needs of the AASA membership in particular and the MTSU community
in general.
Publicity
Adequately publicizes all AASA events and other functions and events which
involve significant numbers of the MTSU community; circulated news and
information about upcoming events; finally, keeps the AASA membership
informed of all Association efforts and directions.
