About The Conference
The fourth annual American Democracy Project Southern Consortium will be held at Middle Tennessee State University November 7-8, 2008.
The conference theme, "The Power of the Millenials", will highlight the processes and products of student-led projects and initiatives, as well as the collaborative efforts of partnering faculty, administrators, and community members. Students and other ADP-S stakeholders will have the opportunity to present their findings in a variety of formats ranging from traditional presentation to a video podcast competition. This promises to be an innovative and invigorating conference. John Seigenthaler has agreed to give the Conference?s keynote address, and we are in the process of pursuing one or two other exciting speakers.
In striving to maintain the conference focus on engagement, we also plan to offer participants various opportunities to interact and share with one another in the hopes that these discussions will perhaps lead to deeper collaborations. For example, we may choose to create a series of "roundtable" discussions in lieu of a panel of paper presentations, or encourage groups of students to informally offer insight to the needs and wants of the Millenials. We will also organize other activities on campus and in the surrounding community that will enable participants to pursue singular or group interests.
