The MTSU Department of Art will hold its second annual “Scholarship Seasonal Sale”, an art extravaganza of work collected from the department’s faculty, staff, students, alumni and community friends, in November.
The event will be held in the Todd Art Gallery. Jean Nagy, department chair, said the sale is designed so that the donor decides which scholarship should benefit. For example, if a student group sells artwork, half of the sale price goes to the student organization, the other half to the scholarship fund designated by the student group. Nagy said the department hopes this year’s sale will be an even greater success than last year.
The Todd Art Gallery will be receiving donations of work to sell beginning on Thursday, November 5 at 12:00 noon until 12:00 noon Monday, November 9. The sale is scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday November 10 & 11, with a pre-sale reception Monday evening, November 9 from 5 to 7 pm, and will include tours showcasing the department’s facilities in Todd Hall. Sale hours on November 10 & 11 are 9 am to 4 pm and the public is welcome.
The art scholarships that will benefit from this sale were first instituted with the creation of the Hester Rogers Ray and have grown over the years. The current list includes:
