In order to subscribe to any of these, you will need to send an e-mail message to the listserv address. Leave the subject line blank and go directly to the body of the message. Here it gets a bit complicated. Listservs vary with regard to the kinds of commands you will need to send in order to subscribe. The variations are presented below:
Most listservs require that you send the following:
SUB YOUR NAME
If this does not work (and if it doesn't you will receive an error message from the listserv), try this:
SUBSCRIBE YOUR NAME
Some of these guys are tricky. Some require that everything be un upper- case, some require lower-case. You will just have to experiment.
Once you have successfully subscribed, the listserv will send you a document explaining how to post messages, access archived materials, unsubscribe, set your mailing preferences, etc. It is very important that you keep this document, either on disk or h ard copy. I promise, you will need it.

Some of these groups are very active and you may be inundated with mail. So, brace yourself. You will learn very quickly just how valuable the delete key really is! You will also find, in many cases, a wealth of information available to you.
