Aquatics: MTSU Campus Recreation Aquatics offers leadership opportunities and scheduling flexibility. Facility: Students will be assisting Rec Center members as they enter the building, learning good customer service skills by staffing the front desk, answering the phone, handing out equipment, and giving out locks while following facility procedures. Marketing: Students in the Campus Recreation marketing department perform a variety of tasks that informs the public of programs, activities and events scheduled. These tasks include, but are not limited to, Web site maintenance, public relations and other media releases and updates, flyer and poster production, bulletin board maintenance, sponsorship sales and event planning. Office Workers: Students will handle a variety of administrative and customer service duties including filing, typing, answering phones, using cash register, maintaining databases and spreadsheets, and using Microsoft Office software to create various documents. Will be asked to serve as a messenger for on- and off-campus sites, and should be willing to serve on student committees to provide feedback for Campus Recreation administration. This is a leadership position that requires students to work well with other university students, faculty and staff, so customer service skills are a must. Flexible hours available. Intramural Sports Supervisor: Student supervisor positions provide direction and support for approximately 25-30 Intramural Sports activities by serving as a liaison between players, captains, and the Intramural Sports office. Specific duties include providing supervision, first response medical support and activation of departmental emergency protocols for Intramural Sports activities. Intramural Sports Scorekeepers/Officials: Officials and scorekeepers are also needed for Soccer, Volleyball, Flag Football, Basketball, and Softball. Students are trained by Intramural Sports staff over 4-5 day periods for each sport. Evening hours are standard, as well as some weekend activities. Fitness: Fitness Room Attendants monitor equipment use in the weight room as well as assisting members with questions, so great customer service skills are a must! This department also has need of certified Personal Trainers and Exercise Instructors. Flexible hours, 7 days a week, 6am-11pm. Challenge Course Leader: This position is part of the Outdoor Pursuits program that works on the Alpine Tower and low elements of Campus Recreation's Alpine Tower. This person is responsible for leading group challenge and initiatives and leadership building through leading groups through a catered challenge program. Climbing Wall Attendant: This position works on the 30ft tall Campus Recreation climbing wall and is part of the Outdoor Pursuits program. It involves belaying participants, marketing the climbing wall, keeping up with safety standards, setting routes, and being a member of the Outdoor Pursuits team. Outdoor Equipment Rental Center Attendant: This position works in the 6,000 square foot rental center and is part of the Outdoor Pursuits program. It involves checking out outdoor adventure equipment to the MTSU community and the general community. Also involved is having local knowledge of outdoor destinations to translate to our customers.
