The MURC will promote, support, and evaluate initiatives that build excellence in the overall learning process. Opportunities will be provided for student involvement in creativity-, discovery-, and inquiry-based scholarship that is mentored closely by faculty engaging students in their own original scholarship. Curricular reform that will successfully support the vision and transform the culture will be encouraged and facilitated through the work of the Center.

The Center will serve as the point of information, contact, assessment and publicity for institutional and externally funded initiatives whose primary purpose is to engage students in scholarship that enhances learning and prepares them for post baccalaureate education. The primary thrust and focus is the URSCP initiative and issues relating to its success.
