ECON 7520 – Advanced Labor Economics II

This course is designed to teach students to conduct publishable-quality empirical labor research.  The course contains three components, the first of which is a standard presentation of labor theory with readings from the literature that show how the theory guides empirical analysis as well as how the theory is tested empirically.  The second component is a survey of specific topics selected and presented by me to illustrate how applied empirical research is conducted.  The third and final component is a survey of the most current articles from the top labor field journals (The Journal of Labor Economics and The Journal of Human Resources) to be presented by students.
