Hello and welcome to the annotated version of "Rocks and the Rock Cycle."

This presentation is included as the first section in your lecture guide as well, but the lecture guide version contains only the graphics shown below and on other pages, not the text that I've added. My comments here are similar to those I would make if I were to present this lecture in person. You should read through all of the text included with this section, as well as closely scrutinizing all of the diagrams that appear here. This material may appear on your first exam.

The text of my annotations appears above the diagrams and below -- wherever I saw fit to include it. To move forward in the presentation, simply click on the embedded forward arrow; to move backward one page, click the back arrow (or you can use your browser's back button, of course.)

[Title Page - "Rocks and the Rock Cycle"] At the beginning of each lecture guide section, I have included a list of objectives. Therefore, I should never be asked "What should I know for the exam?", because the answer is inevitable -- you should be able to fulfill the objectives and be familiar with the vocabulary introduced (both in the textbook and the lecture guide) with each major topic.

Although the objectives are, of necessity, broad topics, they are an excellent foundation from which to begin your study of each section.
