Tentative Paper Title: Intraplate deformation of the Indo-Australian plate
Description/Thesis statement: This paper will discuss the various features relating to the deformation of what is commonly referred to as the Indo-Australian plate. These discussions will be focused on intraplate tectonics and will include such topics as deformation in the Wharton Basin (Delpus et al., 1998). It will also discuss crustal shortening in the area of the Ninetyeast Ridge (Chamot-Rooke et al., 1993; Orman et al., 1995). Finally, there will be a discussion of the evidence for three smaller plates that may make up the Indo-Australian plate and how they relate to previously mentioned features and processes (Royer and Gordon, 1997).
