They Speak of Trees
By
Charles Frost
They speak of trees
and how the winds blow through them.
They bend and even grow
to match the winds
and thus survive.
Sometimes the tree gives up a limb
to save the trunk.
But lightening kills them
and heavy rains can weaken
their grip upon mother earth.
Not so with I.
I am! And choose not to yield.
I am! And elect not to accommodate the shifting winds.
I am as unyielding as a petrified forest.
My soul gives me the strength of giants greater than even the Sequoahs.
Listen to your soul and turn a deft ear to the winds.
