What is Circle K?

MTSU Circle K is a chapter of Circle K International, the world's largest collegiate service organization. We are dedicated to providing opportunities in leadership, fellowship, service and fun for students at MTSU. Our chapter was founded in the fall of 2000 and quickly became one of the top chapters in the Kentucky-Tennessee District. We are a non-profit community service organization that is sponsored by Kiwanis International. Locally we are sponsored by the Stones River/Oaklands Kiwanis Club. MTSU's Circle K provides services to many different organizations in addition to providing opportunities for fellowship and fun with other university students. In the past, we have volunteered for organizations such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the American Heart Association, the Exchange Club, the Boys and Girls Club, Reeves Rogers Elementary, the Domestic Abuse Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, the VA Hospital and many more. We were recognized in the Key Club, Circle K and Kiwanis International Magazines for our efforts in collecting funds after 9-11 for the Red Cross, and have been recognized numerous other times by Circle K International Magazine for our efforts on other projects.

In addition to service, Circle K members have the opportunity to attend District and International Conventions. International Convention is an opportunity for members to meet other Circle K members from around the world. Convention offers opportunities for membership development, service, international officer elections, dancing and the attractions of the host city. Last year's convention was in Boston, MA in mid-August.

Circle K also offers scholarship opportunities and networking opportunities with members of Kiwanis International.

The Mission of Circle K International...

..is to involve college and university students in campus and community service while developing quality leaders and citizens. Circle K inspires people to better our world. In support of this we are committed to:

collaborating with all members of the K-family to achieve our common objectives;
continuing student management of the organization at all levels;
developing positive role models;
enhancing inter-cultural understanding and cooperation;
developing our service potential providing opportunities for fellowship, personal growth, and professional development;
working toward greater public recognition of the organization.

Pledge

I pledge to uphold the objects of Circle K International, to foster compassion and goodwill toward others through service and leadership, to develop my abilities and the abilities of all people, and to dedicate myself to the realization of mankind's potential.

Objects of Circle K International

To emphasize the advantages of the democratic way of life;
To provide the opportunity for leadership training in service;
To serve on the campus and in the community;
To cooperate with the administrative officers of the educational institutions of which the clubs are a part;
To encourage participation in group activities;
To promote good fellowship and high scholarship;
To develop aggressive citizenship and the spirit of service for improvement of all human relationships;
To afford useful training in the social graces and personality development;
To encourage and promote the following ideals;
To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life;
To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships
To promote the adoption and application of high social, business and professional standards;
To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive and serviceable citizenship;
To provide through Circle K clubs a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities;
To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which makes possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism and goodwill.
