General Materials
- sketchbook
- notebook/binder for handouts
- pencils, soft & hard
- rulers, squares, erasers etc
- paintbrushes: small (size 0-2), and large (big bamboo)
- roll of duct tape
- scotch tape
- clear plastic triangle, rulers, T-square, etc.
- utility knife (suggest retractable, snap-off blade type)
- apron
- scissors
- tackle box to keep supplies in
- portfolio. This may be home made or store bought, but you must
have one to turn in prints for grading and it must
be both 1) bigger than your prints and 2) sturdy (use duct tape
if you are making it yourself)

Specific materials for this class:
- copper plates, as needed
- large solvent-resistant rubber gloves for inking
- etching needle
- paper for printing: Arches Cover, Rives BFK, (Rives and Arches
are brand names, so be sure you have the right weight
of paper)
- newsprint (large pad or end roll)
- carbon paper (pressure sensitive)
- frosted mylar (one side has a slight tooth to hold graphite
marks etc.)
- tarlatans (bookstore).
- magnifying glass (Radio Shack makes a good one with a light)
- removable masking tape
- roll of clear contact paper
- matboard and foam core board - at the end of the semester

Optional additional items:
- scraper & burnisher
- steel ruler 18" or longer
In addition to the above, there will be materials such as inks
and grounds, which are provided by the shop. Please be conservative
in your use of these items. We shall be working with materials
which are significantly less toxic than traditional etching used,
which are not outlined in any textbook at this point. You will receive
handouts, and additional information is available on the Internet
at this location and at the Printmaking
