ACM Mid-Southeast Chapter Fall Conference

Call for Papers

 

The ACM Mid-Southeast Chapter Fall Conference provides a forum for discussion of current applications and experimental, theoretical and educational developments in all areas of computing.  You are invited to contribute a paper, organize a panel discussion, or present a tutorial addressing a relevant topic.  Suggested topics include but are not limited to:

 

Artificial Intelligence                  Client/Server Computing            Networking

Computer Architecture              Data Base Applications             Distance Learning

Educational Applications            Ethics                                       Graphics Applications

Internet/Intranet Computing       Neural Nets                              Object Oriented Computing

Operating Systems                    Parallel/Distributed Processing   Scientific Visualization

E-Commerce                            Software Engineering                Security

 

 

Student papers are welcomed.  Papers in this category must be authored solely by students.  Monetary awards and individual plaques will be presented for the best graduate (masters and doctoral categories), undergraduate, and two-year institution student papers. If there are not a minimum of three papers in a category then that category may be combined with another for award consideration.

 

Send a brief abstract of no more than 3000 characters or 300 words describing the proposed activity by one of the following methods:

 

a)      complete the form at Web address http://www.mtsu.edu/~cscbp/midsouthacm/abstracts_submission.html

b)      e-mail the abstract as a Microsoft Word Attachment to cscbp@mtsu.edu

 

In all cases include your name, phone and e-mail address, names of all authors, title of abstract and identify one of the following categories for your submission:

 

  1. Professional
  2. Students (choose one of the following)

a)      two-year institution

b)      undergraduate at a four-year institution without a masters program in your discipline

c)      undergraduate at a four-year institution with a masters program in your discipline

d)      masters

e)      doctoral

 

 

Chapter membership is not required for program participants.  Abstracts are due by October 6, 2003.  Individuals will be notified by October 17, 2003, as to whether their presentation and/or panel discussion topic was accepted.

 

 


 

 

About the Conference

 

The conference will begin Thursday, November 13, with registration from 4 to 6 p.m. in the hotel lobby.  A Hospitality Suite will be provided on Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. and will adjourn at 7:30 p.m. for dinner (cost separate from conference).  Registration will continue on Friday morning at 8 a.m. in the hotel lobby.  At 8:30 a.m. the keynote address will be given, followed by paper presentations.  After lunch the presentation of papers will continue.  At the conclusion of paper presentations, a brief ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) Mid-Southeast Chapter business meeting will be conducted.  The conference will conclude with a social hour in the Hospitality Suite and the conference banquet that will include a banquet speaker and presentation of student paper awards.
