Biographical Sketch

I am a professional philosopher and I try to embody the philosophic ideals in practice as best I can. What this means is that, for me, there is no discrepancy between rhetoric and practice, between theoretical disquisition and praxis. I take this to be the meaning of the oft-quoted but seldom heeded Socratic injunction that “the unexamined life is not worth living.” My ultimate aim is always to pursue truth and avoid falsity, to pursue (the) good and avoid evil, to seek justice and avoid injustice, and, above all, to seek pleasure and avoid pain. In the belief that you would share a similar aim with me, I say, again, Welcome.

Research Interests

My research covers each of the areas of my speciality and competence as evidenced in the journals, books and other sources of publications in which they have appeared. See Curriculum Vitae.

Extracurricular Activities

My favorite News channel is PBS and my favorite radio station is NPR. Finally, I enjoy exercising. I work out at least four days a week.

Acknowledgement

I thank Chris Morgan, my work-study student, for redesigning my web site.
