LEADERSHIP
AND SERVICE
Leadership
and Service is in the Keathley University Center, room 326-L.
With
over 300 registered student organizations, MTSU has something for
everyone.
-
honor societies
-
fraternities/sororities
-
professional/departmental organizations
-
sports clubs/teams
-
political groups
-
human interest groups
-
and more!
Can’t
find where you fit in? At times students do not feel that any of
the registered student organizations are fulfilling their current
needs. We want to encourage students to realize that they can form
a new group that will fulfill their needs and probably countless
others. In order to form their own organizations, they must have
at least five members and a faculty advisor, and complete the necessary
paperwork.
The
Office of Student Organizations & Community Service provides
a variety of opportunities for students to give back to their community.
Whether you wish to volunteer as a group or individually, we have
programs and activities to fit your needs
Here
are other ways you can GET INVOLVED!
- Volunteer
Gateway-An extensive database of agencies in the Rutherford
County area including contact names, phone numbers, and a brief
description of the community organization and its needs.
- Alternative
Break Program -
During the week of spring break, a group of students travel off
campus and typically out of state, to complete volunteer work
in a community that is unlike their normal college atmosphere.
- Volunteer
Fair-
During Week of Welcome, in the KUC courtyard, students will have
the opportunity to see and interact with community service agencies
in Rutherford County. During this time, they may sign up to volunteer
when needed.
- Up
‘Til Dawn- Students may wish to take part in this
campus-wide fundraising event benefiting St. Jude Children’s
Research Hospital in Memphis. You can raise money individually
or on a team with your peers. This past Spring 2005, MTSU students
raised almost $82,000 for St. Jude!
- Make
a Difference Day/Students’ Day of Caring-
In the fall and spring respectively; these service days are designed
to get students involved in volunteer work at different sites
on campus and in the community.
- Campus/Highway
Clean-ups-
Students will have the opportunity to help keep their campus and
community beautiful by picking up trash on various days of the
year.
- And
much more!
