 Special
Projects
Each year, The Middle Tennessee State University Foundation grants up
to $20,000 to fund a special project pursued by a full-time faculty
member at the University. The object of the award is to provide seed
money for a project that brings acclaim to the University. The Special
Projects Committee of the MTSU Foundation Board of Trustees reviews the
applications and selects the winning project. The committee reserves the
right to split the award between two projects. The recipient of the award
is announced at the Foundation's spring Board meeting and recognized at
the annual faculty meeting.
Eligibility
Applicants for the award must be full-time faculty members at Middle
Tennessee State University, and their submitted projects must meet all
of the following criteria. An eligible project
- is a new or proposed project that needs seed money to
ensure its success;
- has an overall budget of less than $100,000;
- advances the goals of the University;
- will bring credit to MTSU and to
the MTSU Foundation;
- shows clear potential for leveraging additional
funding and is submitted by an applicant committed to leading those
fundraising efforts; and
- is presented in a proposal that adheres to all of the
guidelines set forth in this brochure.
Timeline
Application Deadline: February 12, 2010
Finalists chosen: late March
Oral Presentations by finalists: late April
Award disbursed to recipient(s): mid May Proposal
Guidelines
Proposals are limited to six pages and must include the following
elements:
- an outline of your project (problem
to be addressed, significance, goals, methods to be used, ways to evaluate
success, future plans)
- a statement as to how the project
will reflect positively on MTSU and the MTSU Foundation
- a timeline
- a budget
- a fundraising plan for the project
Proposals that exceed the six-page limit will be disqualified. Attachments
should not be included unless they can be incorporated within the six-page
limit. Applicants should keep in mind the audience for these proposals.
The Special Projects Committee is a group of volunteers from various backgrounds.
Committee members will not necessarily have any expertise in a given discipline.
