Dr. Jessica Guinn
Dunnavant lives, works and plays her flutes in metro Nashville, TN.
In addition to her teaching activities at MTSU, she is an instructor at
Belmont Academy and a freelance flutist and active teacher across Middle
Tennessee. Prior to returning home to Tennessee, Dr. Dunnavant was a visiting
professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, Florida State University
and Texas A&M University-Kingsville. She has thus far had a diverse
teaching experience, ranging from Music History/Appreciation and Music
Theory/Aural Skills to lessons and classes in piano, flute, Baroque flute
and recorder.
Dr. Dunnavant has been a regular member of both the Jackson and Paducah Symphonies, and she has been a substitute with the Nashville, Tallahassee and Central Wisconsin Symphonies. She has performed as a guest artist and presenter at festivals and universities across the Southeast and Midwest, most recently at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, the Region VI Conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance, and the Florida Flute Fair. She is the Secretary of the Mid-South Flute Society and her latest article appeared in the March 2009 issue of Flute Talk Magazine. She performs frequently with saxophonist Paula Van Goes as Duo Elegancia. Jessica Dunnavant is an alumna of MTSU (B.M. 1998), Florida State University (M.M. 2000) and the University of Maryland (D.M.A. 2004).
