COURSE DESCRIPTION

Flute ensemble is designed for flutists, majors and non-majors, who desire experience in ensemble performing, arranging, rehearsing, learning to play different members of the flute family and want to participate in making a compact disc recording.  

<>COURSE OBJECTIVES (Learning Outcomes)
· To provide flutists with ensemble experience and recording experience through weekly rehearsals, recording sessions and public performances.
<>· To increase knowledge of available flute ensemble literature
· To provide flutists the opportunity to play all members of the flute family: piccolo, C flute, alto flute, bass flute and contra bass flute.
· To provide all interested students with experience arranging, conducting and rehearsing a small ensemble.
**** Students in this course will be expected to be responsible for and to synthesize each course objective.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance is mandatory. The final grade will be lowered one letter grade for each unexcused absence. A missed performance results in an F for the semester. If there is a family emergency or illness please contact me by phone ASAP.

GRADING
Final grades will be determined by attendance, performance/attitude during rehearsals and public performances.

**RECORDING &/or PERFORMANCE DATES**
Sunday, October 30th and/or Sunday, November 6th will be our recording days beginning at 1pm and lasting until we are done (possibly a late evening).
We will have some scheduled public performances.  The dates of these will be closer to December and you will be informed of these as soon as they are scheduled!

TENNESSEE LOTTERY SCHOLARSHIP
To retain Tennessee Education Lottery Scholarship eligibility, you must earn a cumulative TELS GPA of 2.75 after 24 attempted hours and a cumulative TELS GPA of 3.0 thereafter.  A grade of C, D, F, or I in this class may negatively impact TELS eligibility.  Dropping a class after 14 days may also impact eligibility.  If you withdraw from this class and it results in an enrollment status of less than full time, you may lose eligibility for your lottery scholarship. For additional lottery scholarship rules please refer to your Lottery Statement of Understanding form, review lottery scholarship requirements on the web at http://scholarships.web.mtsu.edu/telsconteligibility.htm, or contact the MTSU financial aid office at 898-2830.
