English 2030:  The Experience of Literature

IMPORTANT REMINDER:  THE FINAL EXAM IS ON DEC 14. To take the exam at any other time, you must make arrangements no later than Dec. 13. ALL MAKE UP EXAMS MUST BE SCHEDULED FOR DEC. 14-17.

Announcements:

Oct. 20:  As Pipeline seems to be function smoothly, I will post no further announcements here. Please note that all essay assignments and the syllabus may be linked through the other 2030 links page.

Sept. 10: The deadline for the first essay has been extended to Oct. 4 (in my box). 

Sept. 4:  Questions for discussion are now posted on the Pipeline Message board. I will post more questions in the next few days. It is your responsibility to check the message board and respond to questions at least once a week.

If we continue having problems with Pipeline, I will shift the class discussion to a listserv. It will be each student's responsibility to give me an up-to-date e-mail address for the listserv.  Please check here for further announcements.
 

Class Meetings:

This class will have three required meetings: orientation, the midterm exam, and the final exam.
  • Orientation on Tuesday Aug. 31at 6 PM in PH 311 is required of all students. There will be one make-up/alternate orientation on Wednesday Sept. 8 at 6:00 PM in PH 307. You must contact me before Sept. 2 if you need an alternate orientation. If you cannot attend orientation, you should withdraw from the course. 
  • The midterm exam will be Tuesday Oct. 12 at 6:00 PM in PH 311. 
  • The final exam will be Tuesday Dec. 14 at 6:00 PM in PH 311.
Make ups for midterm and final will be offered at the telecourse office but must be cleared with me before the date scheduled for the exam.  You must take the final exam no later than Dec. 17 to give me time to figure final grades. Off-site make up exams are not an option.

This class is centered on the Literary Visions telecourse.  Check Telecourse Broadcast Schedule for days and times of broadcast. You may also view the videotapes in the LRC or rent them from the Telecourse Office.
