Do
I receive credit for absences?
The Evening Extended School Program cannot deduct single
days missed from your fee. Your fee
pays for direct operation cost; i.e., EESP staff, snacks, crafts,
and program supplies which must be available for the number of children
attending the program. When you enroll, you are reserving the time,
space, staff, and provisions for your child, whether he/she attends
or not. After two weeks of non-payment/non-attendance, you will
be required to withdraw from the program for the current semester.
In order for your child to re-enter EESP, you must pay another registration
fee and any past due balance.
Field
trips and special activities may require an additional fee but you
will be informed of such activities and charges in advance and participation
is by choice.
As
of August 2004, EESP will allow one week of vacation time. This
can be used with parent’s discretion, whether the week be
for sickness, fieldtrip, vacation, etc. In order for the vacation
policy to go into effect, parents must take their children out for
their time scheduled at EESP. For example, if a child is scheduled
for a full week, they must take off the entire week, and if a child
is scheduled for two days, they must take off those two days.
What
happens if I am late picking up my child?
The Evening Extended School Program closes at 6:00p.m. for
Campus School and 9:30p.m. for MTSU. There is a 10 minute
grace period in which no charges will be applied. This grace period
should not be abused and used only for those times in which something
arises out of your control that causes you to be late. If you arrive
later, you will be charged an additional fee of $5 per child each
additional 10 minutes you are late. For example, if you pick up
your child at 6:26, you will be charged $10.00 ($5.00 for 6:11-6:20
and $5.00 for 6:20-6:26). Times will be determined by the clock
in the Campus School office. Your failure to comply with
the 6:00p.m. closing time on 3 occasions may result in you losing
your spot in EESP. After all emergency numbers are contacted
and no communication from you has been received by 6:30p.m for Campus
School and 9:30p.m. for MTSU, the local authority and/or Department
of Human Services will be called for assistance with your child(ren).
Parents are encouraged to call if they will be late. This does not
waive the late fee, but provides peace of mind to the child.
Where
do I drop off and pick up my child?
You may use the driveway directly in front of the school steps ONLY
if you are signing your child in or out. If you need to speak to
any of the staff or will be longer than 5 minutes, please use the
parking lot in front of the school.
Only
Campus School children who come to EESP immediately after school
may be signed into EESP by a staff member. All other parents must escort their
children into the building and sign them in.
All
parents must personally sign their children out of EESP. Children
will not be allowed to wait for parents in the parking lot, or be
released to commercial transportation personnel (i.e., taxi drivers),
Children will be released ONLY to authorized persons stated on the
enrollment application. Identification will be required for first
time pickups and on request. Notify the Director if a person other
than those authorized will be picking up your child.
What
do I do about snacks/meals?
A snack is provided for all children in the morning (for all day
care) and each afternoon. MTSU parents are required to send a nutritious
meal and beverage with their child. EESP has no refrigeration but
does have access to a microwave. For holidays or snow days, parents
must pack their children a nutritious lunch and beverage.
What
can I do as a parent? (parent involvement)
Families are a part of the Evening Extended School Program. Family
nights, newsletters about program activities, bulletin boards with
announcements, and individual feedback to parents on each child’s
participation in the program will help us in the task of creating
the best experiences for the children in our program. We will keep
you informed about special events in EESP through postings, newsletters
and on our website. Please check the sign in table daily for any
announcements. We ask that you keep us informed on any changes that
may occur in your child’s environment, such as illness in
the family, a change in living location or any other stressful situations
that may be important to your child’s well-being. Additionally,
parents are required to update their child’s application form
when there is a change in an address, phone number, or parents’
schedule during the hours their child is in EESP.
You
may also become a part of the EESP Parent Advisory Board. Please
see the Director if you have questions or are interested.
