The Department of Electronic Media Communication offers numerous scholarships. Departmental scholarships are not normally given to first-time students. EMC encourages worthy first-time students to apply for scholarships through the university
The following scholarships are awarded annually to current EMC students. The applications for these scholarships are to the right of this column.

Anna Lee Wall Memorial Scholarship
Description: Annual award to a female student who is emphasizing electronic media journalism as her program of study. This endowed scholarship-established by the Department and her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi-is in memory of Anna Lee Wall, an Electronic Media Journalism student, who died in an automobile accident on May 4, 1997.
Requirements: Available to junior- or senior-level female students, minimum 3.0 overall GPA, Electronic Media Communication concentration, Electronic Media Journalism emphasis.


Heather Uffelman Memorial Scholarship
Description: Annual award. This endowed scholarship-established by both the Electronic Media Communication Department and the English Department-is in memory of Heather Uffelman, who died in 1992, the victim of a robbery.
Requirements: Available to students who reflect Heather's love of the written word and her dedication to media projects. Applicants compete in an essay contest, with finalists interviewed by faculty members representing both departments.


Jeremy Rolfs Memorial Scholarship
Description: Annual award. This scholarship is in memory of Jeremy Rolfs, an Electronic Media Production student, who died in an automobile accident in March 1997.
Requirements: Available to junior- or senior-level students, minimum 2.8 overall GPA, radio, television, or photography experience (on or off campus). Current involvement in the areas of radio, television, or photography.


Michael J. Kettenring Scholarship
Description: Annual awards, based on interest generated by endowment. Michael J. Kettenring was president and general manager of WSMV-TV, Nashville, Tennessee, for 15 years. This endowed scholarship is his way of repaying the community for its support.
Requirements: Available to junior- or first semester senior-level students, minimum 3.0 overall GPA, Electronic Media Communication concentration, current active participation in campus media.


Electronic Media Communication Department Scholarship
Description: Annual awards to Electronic Media Communication students.
Requirements: Available to junior- or senior-level students, minimum 2.8 overall GPA, Electronic Media Communication concentration. Previous radio, television, or photography experience (on or off campus). Current active involvement in the areas of radio, television, or photography.


Digital Media Scholarship
Description: Annual awards to Electronic Media Communication students.
Requirements: Available to junior- or senior-level students, Electronic Media Communication concentration, Digital Media emphasis, minimum 3.0 GPA.

Country Radio Broadcaster's Scholarship

Thanks to the generosity of the Country Radio Broadcaster's organization, EMC will begin awarding scholarships to those majors who have earned candidacy and who have expressed a desire for a career in radio


Information on additional scholarships will be posted as it becomes available.

If you are interested in applying for any of the above scholarships, please return the Departmental Scholarship Application Form to Dr. Roger Heinrich, Scholarship Committee Chair, Electronic Media Communication Department, MTSU P.O. Box 58.
The application deadline is March 17, 2009.
