The MTSU Equestrian Team, proud to be 2003 Reserve National Western Champions, is comprised of over 70 members. Members range from those without previous riding experience to those who have competed nationally. We also welcome student of all majors, not just horse science majors.
The team competes in horse shows across the Southeast region of the United States in Intercollegiate Horse Show Association recognized shows. Riders compete in hunter seat equitation on the flat and over fences, western horsemanship and reining. MTSU provides all horses, tack and facilities for the equestrian team, but not all team activities are funded by the school. Our club continues to run due to our dedicated members.
Each member is required to pay $15 in club dues per semester. Lesson fees are $225 each semester. There are also annual IHSA dues for those wishing to show. Team meetings are held on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. in the Horse Science center.
The Equestrian team is coached by Anne Brzezicki. Assistant coaches are former team riders Faye Lynn Coffey and Rachael Hunt. The 2008-2009 team officers are President Shayna Taylor, Vice President Matt McMurtrey, Team Managers Brittani Nutini and Amanda Martin, Secretary Chelsey Vaughn, Treasurer Brittany Lehmenn, and SGA Representative Megan Hephner. |
