FACILITIES
MTSU Horse Science Center

The
MTSU Horse Science Center is located 7 miles from the main campus and is adjacent
to the Tennessee Miller Coliseum. It includes two high-tech classrooms, Horse
Science faculty offices, conference room, and restrooms. The barn
is connected to the back of the Horse Science Center, and offers opportunities
for student work experience. This facility includes 65 indoor climate controlled
stalls with additional covered overflow stalling just out the central doors.
The barn area is heated and contains a large tackroom, feedroom, washrack, and
breeding lab, as well as a student locker area. The covered arena runs parallel
to the overflow stalling, and is 105' x 230'. An additional outdoor arena is
also available for use.
While
there is currently no boarding for student horses, future plans include a student
barn for personal horses, and limited apartment space for students managing
the barn. |

The Tennessee
Miller Coliseum was built on March 18, 2003. The entire facility
exists thanks to the generosity of the late John
and Mary Miller. The facility is located on 154 acres at 304B West Thompson
Lane Murfreesboro, TN.
The coliseum
itself is 222,000 square feet. It includes many amenities that make it one
of the most outstanding arenas constructed. The Miller can seat a total of
6,500 guests. An office, concession areas, lounges, reception areas, restaurant and several
restrooms are included. An enclosed practice/warm-up area
is located just outside the main arena.
The stalling
facilities at the Miller Coliseum are also impressive. The covered barns are
furnished to house 492 horses in 10x10 stalls. Two large
washracks with tempered water are conveniently located for bathing.
Restrooms, showers, a barn manager's office, and farrier work areas are also
included in the stalling area. Parking areas include 400 parking spaces with
70 camper hookups. |
