Linda
Arms Gilbert
Dr. Linda
Arms Gilbert is a native of Murfreesboro and is currently
serving as the Associate Director for Instruction and Professional
Development of the Murfreesboro City Schools. She is an adjunct
faculty member at Middle Tennessee State University in the
Department of Educational Leadership and will be joining Cumberland
University in an adjunct position this fall. Dr. Gilbert received
her B.S. degree in elementary education, her M.A.T. degree
in music, and her Ed.S. degree in administration and supervision
from Middle Tennessee State University. She received her Ed.D.
Degree in curriculum and instruction from Tennessee State
University. The 1998 Tennessee Teacher of the Year, Dr. Gilbert
is a frequent speaker at regional, state, and national conferences,
and is an adjudicator throughout Tennessee for various instrumental
ensemble events. She is a member of numerous professional
organizations, has served as the president of the Middle Tennessee
Education Association, is a member of various local boards,
and has been recognized by many state and regional organizations
for her work in education. She is listed in numerous Who¹s
Whos and has been featured in the Innovator section of NEA
Today with her work as a teacher in establishing music keyboard
labs.
In her
role as Associate Director, Dr. Gilbert supervises all areas
of instruction for the Murfreesboro City Schools. In addition,
during the past two years, she has authored almost $3 million
in grants for the system, has served as the liaison between
many community organizations/businesses and the school system,
and has worked with governmental, social service, and volunteer
agencies to develop the Franklin Heights and Mercury Heights
areas of Murfreesboro into safe communities where residents
can reach their potentials for success and happiness.
