L. Kick
Dr. Edward
L. Kick is Professor and Chair of the Department of Sociology
and Anthropology at Middle Tennessee State University.
Dr. Kick's
research publications and grants have examined the structure
of the modern world system, and a range of related national
characteristics, including human well-being, economic development,
the family, education, the environment and politics. With
his colleague at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill, Dr. James Fraser (Center for Urban and Regional Studies),
Dr. Kick recently has conducted funded studies of neighborhood
revitalization and its impact on community and personal well-being
in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The data collected are based on
interviews with a wide range of development organizations,
and 1000 residents drawn from revitalizing areas of Chattanooga.
Drs. Kick and Frazer in upcoming months will present the results
of their community development research to professional conferences
in San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, and Amsterdam.
