Anne O'Neill McGintis

She's been called Chattanooga's Energizer Bunny because she keeps going and going and going! As the Parent, School and Community Involvement Coordinator for Hamilton County Schools, Anne has a natural gift for getting parents excited about being active participants in their child's education. Her zest for strengthening relationships between families and schools has earned her a spot in the national limelight. Anne has been featured in an issue of Southern Living magazine for her work and In Focus magazine as director of the city's first Family Resource Center and for her commitment to after-school programs in 10 rural and inter-city sites. A lifelong educator and learner herself, Anne coordinated the local America Goes Back to School Celebration that brought U. S. Secretary of Education Richard Riley to the Scenic City.

Anne also shared the stage with President Bill Clinton, Vice Present Al Gore, Secretary Riley, Attorney General Janet Reno and other national dignitaries on creating safe schools. Mrs. McGintis has worked the past six years with The Family Reunion Conference hosted by Vice President Al Gore and Tipper Gore. Mrs. McGintis was selected as JC Penney's Afterschool Ambassador; she served on the U.S. team of delegates and was a presenter for the Fifth Meeting of the U.S. - Brazil Summit in Saul Paulo, Brazil on Enhancing Business, Community and Family Involvement in Education. She has developed and designed partnership programs for Parent, School and Community Involvement in Halifax Canada, Nova Scotia and Honolulu, Hawaii and other U. S. Cities.

Through numerous civic and community service organizations, such as The Junior League of Chattanooga, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Regional Health Council, Ballet Tennessee, Chattanooga Theater Center, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Girl Scouts of America, The Links Inc., local and State government, First Thing First, Community Foundation and YMCA of Chattanooga. Anne has been able to touch the lives of men, women, boys and girls from all walks of life.

Anne is married to Jimmy L. McGintis and they have one daughter Jennifer Elizabeth. Mrs. McGintis has been an educator for 30 years, in the Hamilton County and City School districts.
