Jonathan
D. Weiss
Professor
Jonathan D. Weiss is the Executive Director of the newly established
George Washington University Center on Sustainability and
Regional Growth in Washington, DC. The Center brings together
several disciplines across the University and is based at
the GW Law School. By linking across sectors and boundaries.
The program serves as a resource and convener on community
growth issues. Prior to founding the center, Weiss served
as an aide to Vice President Gore on sustainable growth issues
and was Senior Brownfields Counsel at the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency. At EPA, he was awarded Gold and Bronze
Medals for his role in helping to establish the Administration's
Brownfields initiative.
Weiss
has lectured across the world, including keynoting the first-ever
conference on "Building Livable Cities" in Sao Paulo,
Brazil. His writings have appeared in a number of journals,
magazines and newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal,
and he is a frequent commentator on National Public Radio.
Weiss is a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School
and has an MA and BA from the University of Michigan, where
he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
