Catherine
D. Stogner
Dr. Stogner earned her MS and PhD in Human Development and
Family Studies from Utah State University. While there she
worked as a teaching assistant teaching Families in Later
Life, Life Span Development, and Family Relations. Her research
focused on intergenerational relationships and later life.
Prior
to attending USU Dr. Stogner obtained her BS in Health Administration
from Columbus College in Columbus, GA. She received her AS
in Nursing from East Tennessee State University and worked
in psychiatric and rehab nursing as well as training drug
and alcohol programs in counseling and pharmacology.
Since
coming to MTSU in 1996 Dr. Stogner has taught family relations,
adolescent development, parenting, and families in later life.
She is a member of the graduate faculty and teaches graduate
classes in the area of child development and family studies.
Dr. Stogner
is actively involved in the service learning initiative and
has developed two courses based on service learning. The Aging
Health and Development Program is an intergenerational program
that links college students and senior citizens. The program
consists of activities and workshops that are planned by students
and offered to senior citizens thereby offering students a
one to one, hands on opportunity to learn about aging and
later life. Caring Across Generations is a collaborative program
with NHC in which students are trained as certified nurses'
assistants.
