Tom Flynn is Editor of Free Inquiry magazine, Special Projects Director at the Center for Inquiry International, a Senior Director of Inquiry Media Productions, and Director of the Robert Green Ingersoll Birthplace Museum. In addition, he was founding coeditor of Secular Humanist Bulletin, now edited by Ed Buckner, and founded by the Council for Secular Humanism's First Amendment Task Force, chaired by Ed Tabash.

Pictures from last week's debate have been uploaded to the photos page. Feel free to take a look. The next meeting scheduled for this Thursday will be planning for the spring 2005 semester. Bring in your ideas and what not. The meeting takes place at 6.30pm in Peck Hall room 322.

The debators for the Gay Marriage Debate will be as follows: Sonnye Dixon and Jerry Flowers. sonnye Dixon is the pastor of Hobson United Methodist Church in Nashville, TN and she will be debating for gay marriage. Jerry Flowers, from Alpha Omega, will be debating against him. Serving as the moderator will be John Maynor, an MTSU Political Science professor. The debate will start at 7.30pm on Tuesday, October 26th in the BAS State Farm Lecture Hall.
For our meeting tomorrow, (Peck Hall room 322 at 6.30pm), we'll go over final detail about next week's debate. Also we wil discuss plans for the Spring 2005 semester.

For our next meeting (October 07th at 6.30pm in Peck Hall room 322), we will dicuss details for the upcoming gay marriage debate.

Here is a quick summary of our last meeting:

  1. Plans are underway for a panel discussion on the topic of gay marriage. The target date for this would be in mid to late October. Details such as exact date and location as well who will be on the panel are in the works.
  2. Levi talked about possibly expanding the snack fundraising in the Jones Hall office building and with the fridge that Timmy is selling to CFA, this is possible.
  3. Membership dues have been set at $5 a semester ($10 a year). If you pay $10, you get one of the Stan Friedman videos of the UFO debate which was held this past January.
  4. We discussed ideas for the fall and spring semesters. Some ideas include...
    1. Carpooling to the Bell Witch Cave or something similar for Halloween.
    2. Wil mentioned having Scott Lillianfield (I'm not sure on the spelling of his name) as a speaker in the spring semester.
  5. Our next meeting will be on Thursday, September 23 at 6.30pm in Peck Hall room 322. We will be serving refreshments and discussing plans for the fall semester.
