There are 2 final events for the semester....

First off is our movie night on Sunday 19. November. We will be watching the Award Winning Crash at this time. It will be held at the home of the faculty advisor.

Our last meeting will be Our semester wrap party. It will be on Monday 27. November in the Suntrust Room of the BAS. We will have food, music, and party stuff. We will celebrate our achievements and talk about goals for next semester. The excitement starts at 6pm.

The Nashville Chapter of Separaration of Church a]nd State is holding the following event that will be sponsored by Raiders for Rationalism. Rev. Barry Lynn will be in Nashville to promote his new book, Piety & Politics: The Right-Wing Assault on Religious Freedom. Please mark your calendar now and save the date: Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at Harambee Auditorium on the campus of Scarritt-Bennett Center, 1008 Ninteenth Avenue South, Nashville. The auditorium will open at 6:30 pm for book sales and free literature. Barry Lynn will speak at 7 pm and will autograph your purchase.

The next Raiders for Rationalism meeting will consist of fine-tuning the upcoming HIV/AIDS Demonstration. This meeting will take place on Monday 06. November at 6pm in BAS S309.

Raiders for Rationalism would like to thank Dr. Will Legget for speaking at our last meeting as well as those who attended. Pictures will be posted soon.

Also note that as of this past Tuesday, we have two new officers. They are Arbor Barrow as Treasurer and Rebekka Risinger as the Fundraising Coordinator.

The next meeting will be 23. October at 6pm in BAS room S309. This meeting will consist of brainstorming for our next event which will deal with AIDs and HIV Awareness. Games and social time will conclude the meeting.

The movie for movie night (set for 22. October) will be The Exorcism of Emily Rose. Movie Night will take place on Sunday 22. October at the home of Dr. Will Langston. Games will start at 5pm followed by dinner at 6:30pm. The movie will start at 7pm. Dinner will be potluck, so bring your favorite dish. On Sunday 29. October, we will go to Death Valley haunted woods (This is also Levi's birthday). We will meet at 6 pm for dinner. At 7:30 we will go to the haunted house. There is a custome competition worth 100 dollars if people want to dress up... We will be back late around midnight or so. The website is deathvalleyhauntedwoods.com.

Also do not forget about the lecture on Monday 09. October presented by Dr. Will Legget. HHe will speak on altered states of being i.e. possession or voodoo curses etc. It will begin at 6pm in BAS S309. Refeshments will be served.

The speaker for the 09. October meeting will be Dr. Will Legget. He will speak on altered states of being i.e. possession or voodoo curses etc. In his lecture he will deconstruct American ethnocentric ideas on "pseudo-science", and talk about these paranormal phenomena if a culturally relative way. It will be on Monday 09. October 2006 at 6pm in BAS room S309.

At our last meeting, we discussed the following:

01. The dues will be $5.00 a semester and $10.00 a semester. Those who pay the yearly dues will receive a free snack a semester. Paying members will be allowed voting privileges, plus by paying dues, you will be supporting the organization.

02. For the next meeting, Ida Fadzillah will be speaking on Ethnocentricism and Altered States of Being. It will begin at 6pm on Monday 09. October in the BAS room S309.

03. The next movie night will take place on 22. Oktober 2006 with the location to be announced shortly. The last movie night, this past Sunday, was a huge success. Possible movies for this night include: White Noise, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, and Rose Red.

04. We have plans to visit a haunted house or two in place of the meeting for Monday 23. October. More details about this will follow shortly.

05. A possible HIV/AIDS demonstration for November. This will consist of sexual education as well as display boards containing myths and facts about HIV.

At our first meeting, we discussed possible events for this Fall, one of which is a lecture on Faith and Responsibility. More details will be revealed shortly. The Movie Night that was planned for this Sunday, September 17th has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 24th. While the time will still be at 5pm, the location is to be announced. The scheduled movie will be V for Vendetta.

The first two meetings of the Fall 2006 semester will be Monday, September 11th and Monday, September 25th. The meetings will take place in BAS room S309 at 6pm.

Our first Movie Night will be Sunday, September 17th. Games will start at 5pm followed by dinner at 6:30pm. The movie, V for Vendetta, will start at 7pm. Movie Night will take place at the home of the faculty advisor. Please contact for directions.
