A church-state forum titled "We Support the Ten AMENDMENTS" will be held Tuesday, April 22, at 6:30 pm on the campus at MTSU in the Business Aerospace Building (BAS), room South 328. The speaker will be the Rev. Thomas L. McCracken, minister, Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), Murfreesboro. The meeting is sponsored by the Campus Freethought Alliance and Nashville Chapter Americans United for Separation of Church and State. The title of the address was inspired by signs posted in Murfreesboro which say "We Support the Ten Commandments." The meeting is open to the public at no charge.

At our last meeting, We discussed the following:
01.As part of Lambda's Spring Out!- On Thursday, April 03, CFA will be sponsoring The Bible and Homosexuality which will be presented by Reverend April Baker and Dr. Mark Caldwell of Glendale Baptist Church. This event will take place at 7:00 PM in the LRC 221.
02. CFA will be attending the Conbference in Washington, DC. This will take place April 10-13.
03. April 22nd is a possible date for a speaker. More details about this will be posted soon.
04. Our next meeting will be April 08th at 6:30pm in BAS S 341. WE will be discussing "end of the year" events.

The CFA @ MTSU, in response to Bellaire Baptist's confernce on "Growing God's Woman.", will be turning Tuesday's Meetinginto a "Growing HIS Woman" conference. The topic is of course a parody. If we can not get a speaker, we will just have a moderated discussion. We will begin this talk at 7:30 pm , Tuesday in BAS S 341.There will be pizza. THE CFA WILL STILL BE MEETING AT 6:30!!!! We have a lot of business, that we got to cover, so if you can come early, please. Topics of discussion are as follows:

04. End of Semester and Summer

Campus Freethought Alliance IS competing in the 2003 MTSU quiz Bowl. The team will consist of Jessica C, Terri, Jason and Mat. Today's meeting is dedicated to cheering our Quiz Bowl team on to victory. We will meet at 5:45 in the LRC photo gallery. Let's support our fellow free thinkers.

Between February 26 and March 01, CFA representatives will visit Tennessee, including campuses such as Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee State University and others, presenting Voltaire and the Challenge of the New Enlightenment. More details about this will be available shortly.

Also in other news, Nick (our Co-VP) has been called upon to serve our country and will be shipping out soon. Thus, he had to withdraw from classes and the University. Mat Pauley (our president) writes, "I would like to take a minute to thank Nick for all of his support, participation and enthuasism. he truly added to the flavor that is the CFA. Nick, we wish you the best of luck overseas and a hope for a quick return."

Here are some news information about this week's events. Please read along. This week is our Darwin Day celebration. Tuesday, February 11: Dr. Howard is unavailable due to family matters. We will be meeting in BAS S 341 at 630 pm. There will be the Secret Darwin exchanged. To participate, please bring a wrapped gift of no more then $5, though related to Darwin or science in some way. We will be discussing evolution. Wednesday, February 12: Dr. Bob Price will lecture on creationism in LRC at 5:30 pm. Help will be needed with this. If you got shirts from last year, please show your support of Darwin Day by wearing them. Thats is all for now.

Finally here are the minutes from last week's meeting: officially changing group name's from CFA to Raiders for Rationalism, meeting at the Red Rose for some of our meetings, and Lambda's invitation to CFA to become involved in their Spring Out event. January 23, Thursday, 7 pm. A free public meeting sponsored by Nashville Chapter Americans United for Separation of Church and State, held at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Hear attorney Alvin Harris discuss First Amendment issues raised in Doe v. Porter. This is a current case involving teaching of religion to elementary school children during school hours in Rhea County, home of the Dayton "Monkey Trial." The plaintiffs decided to remain anonymous for fear of retribution from the community. Trinity Presbyterian Church is at 3201 Hillsboro Pike. This is immediately south of I-440; turn west at Sharondale; the church is on the corner. WE PLAN TO HOLD THE MEETING IN SPITE OF A LITTLE SNOW. PLEASE SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS.
