GEAR
UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate
Programs. GEAR UP is a federally funded program that is designed
to increase the number of low income and first generation students
who are prepared to enroll in and succeed in undergraduate education.
GEAR UP is a strong and concerned partnership with local schools,
community groups and colleges and universities. This partnership
bands together to provide students with academic skills to succeed
in high school and in college. Students also learn how to apply
for college and how to complete financial aid paperwork. Students
will also learn how to work with a diverse group of students and
faculty whom they will encounter on a typical college campus.
Learn
more about students' experiences in the 2005 MTSU GEAR UP Program
by reading a letter to parents & guardians
from Dr. Judith Iriarte-Gross, the Director of the MTSU GEAR UP
Program.
