      Most student journals do not accept simultaneouos submissions, so you should never submit an article to one journal while it is being considered by another unless both journals have specifically given you permission to do so.

       Journals listed are specific only in that each will accept appropriately submitted materials from MTSU students.

Aporia   {Philosophy}
Aporia is an undergraduate journal of philosophy at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. Aporia is published twice yearly: an online edition in the fall, and a print edition in the spring. BIOS, the quarterly journal of Beta Beta Beta Biological Society (MTSU - Kappa Delta), has been published continuously since 1930. Membership in ßßß is NOT required for publication in BIOS. It has a three-fold purpose: to publish matters that pertain to the affairs of the Society, to publish articles by members, and to publish articles that will be of general interest to biologists. Many distinguished biologists have contributed manuscripts for publication in BIOS, written especially with the undergraduate reader in mind. Subjects covered include articles on current research, developments in biology, biology as a profession, as well as graduate and professional training for biologists. the birch - a journal of Eastern European and Euroasian culture
Founded in 2004, The Birch is the first national undergraduate publication devoted exclusively to Slavic, East European, and Eurasian cultures. Any undergraduate student at any college can submit work to The Birch. A group of Columbia undergraduates selects submissions and publishes the journal, which is completely student-run. Appearing twice a year (fall and spring), The Birch publishes work of three kinds: creative writing (poetry, prose, creative nonfiction, short stories), literary criticism (essays and book reviews), and essays on the culture and politics of the region. The Canadian Undergraduate Journal of Cognitive Science is an electronic journal published by the Cognitive Science Student Association at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. Their aim is to provide a forum for students to share work among peers and gain valuable experience in the process of getting an academic paper published. The journal is a unique reference for students, showcasing quality research by other undergraduate students, improving the contact and exchange of ideas between students and cognitive scientists alike, and illustrating the interdisciplinary work that is the hallmark of the field. Collage is published by the University Honors College at Middle Tennessee State University and accepts submissions from students currently enrolled at MTSU. Since 1968, Collage has been a student-produced, bi-annual magazine of creative arts. Submissions of poetry, prose, art, and photography are accepted year-round. Founded in 2001, Collision Literary Magazine is one of the few undergraduate publications in the nation dedicated exclusively to creative non-fiction and non-fiction poetry. Columbia Journal of Literary Criticism
The Columbia Journal of Literary Criticism is a peer-edited journal devoted to publishing rigorous works of undergraduate scholarship and to providing a forum for interdisciplinary critique. The Columbia Undergraduate Journal of History is a publication of the Undergraduate History Council at Columbia University. CICSD is a scholarly journal maintained by the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association that follows the policies and procedures of the ASHA Publication Board. Involve is dedicated to showcasing and encouraging high quality mathematical research involving students (at all levels). The editorial board consists of mathematical scientists each of whom is personally committed to nurturing student participation in research. Involve is a publication in between the extremes of purely undergraduate research journals, which in general are aimed at undergraduate audiences, and mainstream research journals. Such a venue is an important asset to mathematics researchers who wish to encourage the creative involvement of students in mathematical enterprises early in their careers. Issues in Political Economy is committed to supporting and encouraging quality undergraduate research in all areas of economics. The Journal was founded on the belief that the best way to learn economics is to do economics. Through the process of research, writing, and peer review, students actively engage the discipline in a way not possible by simply listening to lectures and reading textbooks. In short, undergraduate research is a vital component in an economics education. The literature suggests that students take projects more seriously and learn more when the project is directed towards an external rather than an internal audience such as a class assignment. Issues in Political Economy is committed to supporting and encouraging quality undergraduate research in all areas of economics. The journal is edited and refereed entirely by students, with oversight from faculty at the University of Mary Washington and Elon University. The only requirements for submission are that the article pertains to some aspect of economics, that it was written during undergraduate study, and that it be submitted through a faculty sponsor. Though submissions on all topics in economics will receive consideration, papers should be analytical and seek to add new understanding to the topic. Submission info.


  Journal of Criminal Justice and Popular Culture
The Journal of Criminal Justice and Popular Culture is a scholarly record of research and opinion on the intersection of crime, criminal justice, and popular culture. Review essays may include examinations of cultural artifacts (e.g., films, music, plays, television, newspapers, painting, architecture, computers, etc.) or academic expositions (e.g., books, articles, etc.) of some import to the intersection of crime, criminal justice, and popular culture. Commentaries may include expressions of opinion on developments and questions related to the intersection of crime, criminal justice, and popular culture. Additional special features may include treatments of the intersection of crime, criminal justice, and popular culture that do not fit in any of the other departments. JNP is the official journal of the American College of Nurse Practitioners. JNP, provides a highly visible resource to help nurse practitioners stay current with the clinical, research, and policy concerns affecting their day-to-day practice. In addition to peer-reviewed clinical articles, JNP features continuing education opportunities and opinions and commentary on pressing legislative, regulatory, and clinical practice issues. Manuscripts submitted by students are welcomed and will undergo peer review. The Penn Bioethics Journal is the nation's premier peer-reviewed undergraduate bioethics journal. To submit a paper for consideration, the author must be an undergraduate student at a nationally accredited institution. The editors select a theme for each bi-annual issue of the journal. Submissions are encouraged, but in no means required, to correspond to the selected theme. Additionally, each issue of the journal features one or more interviews with prominent professionals in fields related to the issue theme. Their acceptance process is very competitive with submissions undergoing an initial review, a small-group review, and, if warranted a final review by the full editorial board.
