Educational Facilities

The MTSU Horse Science Center is located seven miles from the main campus and is adjacent to the Tennessee Miller Coliseum. A bequest by John and Mary Miller in 1995 with matching funds from the USDA supported the construction of the Horse Science educational facility. The Horse Science Center has two state of the art master classrooms, an equine reproduction laboratory, faculty offices and conference room, heated barn with 65 climate controlled stalls, and a 105' x 230' teaching arena. A gift from alumni Lanas and Julie Smith recently enclosed the teaching arena. An additional outdoor arena and a jump course is also available.

Future plans include completion of the 2500-square-foot horse science annex, to include a scientific laboratory, graduate student offices, tack storage area and locker room. We also hope to construct a student barn for boarding personal horses, limited apartment space for students managing the student barn, and a farrier science laboratory.
