Living options include traditional halls with shared baths; exterior-entry buildings with suite-style baths; and two-person, four-person, and family apartments. Communities range in size from fewer than 100 residents in Lyon Hall to up to 400 residents in Corlew, Cummings, and Scarlett Commons. Rates depend on the type of room you select.

Amenities available to campus residents include:

  • five computer labs with convenient access to personal computing and photocopier
  • data lines with direct access to the university computing system in bedrooms
  • Residence Hall Cinema that offers both popular and educational films on Channel 19, the MTSU Movie Channel
  • twenty-four-hour desks in several areas provide reception services, information and recreation
  • lounges and lobbies within the halls that provide areas designated for conversation, studying and recreation
  • basic cable in all residence hall rooms and apartments
  • laundry facilities within each complex

All residence halls and apartments on the MTSU campus are substance free. Alcohol and drugs are prohibited. MTSU has a zero tolerance policy regarding possession or use of drugs or paraphernalia in campus residence halls. Smoking is prohibited in all public areas (lobbies, hallways, community baths, classrooms, etc.) and all individual residence hall rooms and all apartments.

RESIDENCE HALLS

West Side Halls
These residence halls stand along pathways lined with trees that were planted when the campus was new. Click on a hall to learn more.

Lyon McHenry Reynolds

These small learning communities range in size from 77 to 141 students and are adjacent to the James Union Building. The JUB houses one of the main cafeterias on campus, a convenient location to meet friends for meals or studying. A computer lab with extended hours serves west side residents. Reception desks are located in Lyon and Monohan Halls. Centrally located bathrooms in each hallway of each floor are shared by residents.

Mid-Campus Halls
These centrally located residence halls offer easy access to the Cyber Cafe at Woodmore and the campus Grill in Keathley University Center. Click on a hall to learn more.

Beasley Judd Smith
Gracy Sims  

These halls are small communities of 100 to 155 persons and share the Smith Hall reception desk, lounge, and computer room. Smith, Sims, and Beasley feature bathrooms on each floor which are shared by residents. Judd and Gracy are exterior entrance buildings with quad-style bathrooms shared by groups of four rooms.

East Campus Halls
Eastern residence halls are close to the Recreation Center and Walker Library. Click on a hall to learn more.

Clement Felder Nicks
Deere Gore Wood

Wood and Felder hall share a connecting lobby which provides reception services, a computer lab, and meeting/television space for all residents of the east campus. Clement and Gore halls are reserved for late applicants and may be home to "overflow" students. Nicks, Deere, Clement, and Gore halls are exterior entrance buildings which feature quad-style bathrooms shared by groups of four rooms. Study rooms in each building provide quiet space.

North Campus Halls
At seven stories, these halls are the tallest buildings at MTSU and are located on either side of the Business and Aerospace Building and near the Keathley University Center. Click on a hall to learn more.

Corlew Cummings Nicks

McCallie Dining Hall in Corlew is one of the main cafeterias on campus. Cummings and Corlew are home to the First-Year Experience program, which gives freshmen special academic and personal support. Reception desks are in the lobby of each hall and a computer lab in Corlew serves the residents of both halls. Centrally located bathrooms on each floor are shared by residents. Designated rooms in each building are designed for overflow housing for late applicants.

APARTMENTS

Womack Lane
Womack Lane Apartments consists of 192 one- and two- bedroom units, with areas designated for both single students and families. Single students share a furnished one- or two-bedroom apartment with one other student; graduate and upperclass students are given preference in assignment. Families may occupy either one- or two-bedroom apartments and may select unfurnished or semi-furnished. All semi-furnished apartments include air conditioning; unfurnished apartments are not air conditioned. Scarlett Commons
MTSU's newest residential area is Scarlett Commons, north of the Recreation Center. Scarlett Commons features four-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments with full kitchens and living rooms. Residents occupy a private bedroom and share their bath with one other student. The Scarlett Commons clubhouse includes a 24-hour reception and service desk, recreation/meeting room with fireplace and a meeting room.
