MTSU's newest residential area, Scarlett Commons is located immediately north of the Campus Recreation Center. Each of the nine buildings in this complex consist of twelve self-contained apartments. Each apartment unit provides a kitchen, dining area, living room, four individually keyed bedrooms and two baths.

Students are assigned private bedrooms, and share their bath with one other student. All other living areas are shared in common by all four apartment-mates. One apartment modified for persons with disabilities is located in each of the nine residential buildings. Modified apartments include an accessible bath to service two bedrooms and appropriate kitchen adaptations. Each living room is wired with a data line, cable, and phone access. Each bedroom is wired with phone and data lines. Students may activate bedroom phone lines at an additional cost.

One parking space was designed per each bed in the complex. Parking in the complex is reserved for residents of Scarlett Commons only, but Scarlett Commons residents will have only limited access to other parking lots on campus. The Raider Xpress bus service will pick up immediately in front of the clubhouse.

A typical unit is equipped as follows:

  • kitchen: kitchen table & four chairs, microwave, refrigerator, stove and oven
  • living room: sofa, lounge chair, and TV stand
  • bedrooms: bed, dresser, closet, nightstand, and desk with hutch per bedroom. All windows are furnished with mini-blinds, and affixed curtain rods are not allowed.
  • internet connections

The Scarlett Commons clubhouse includes a 24 hour reception and service desk, recreation/meeting room with fireplace, and laundry room. The University shuttle bus, the Raider Express, provides campus transportation from a bus stop located at the front of the clubhouse.
