Strategic Planning

Middle Tennessee State University operates on a five-year planning cycle prescribed by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR). During 2006-07 an ad hoc Academic Master Plan Committee evaluated and updated MTSU's Academic Master Plan by "building upon the blueprint" President Sidney A. McPhee had proposed for the successful 2002-2012 Plan. The 2007-2017 Academic Master Plan continues the University's plan to achieve three primary objectives: (1) attainment of notable academic quality, (2) development of a student-centered learning environment, and (3) establishment of partnerships with area institutions and businesses.

The current TBR Strategic Plan extends for a five-year period from July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2010. MTSU's Planning Committee is composed of faculty, staff, students, and community representation. Development of the university's strategic plan includes a review of the mission statement, setting enrollment projections and establishing strategic goals. Institutions are required to submit goals to address the four TBR priorities (access, quality, leadership, and resourcefulness). Annual reports are submitted to the governing board to demonstrate progress toward achieving the institution's goals.

MTSU Alumni Relations Office chartered three alumni chapters in 2000-01 and they are now making plans to give scholarships.
