Acquisition of Materials
The Media Library purchases audiovisual materials to support the
curriculum objectives, classroom instruction, and independent learning
at MTSU. We welcome faculty suggestions for new videos and films
we might add to our collection. Priority will be given to titles
that faculty preview and evaluate.
(NOTE: some vendors do not allow previews and almost all feature
films will be unavailable for preview)
Gail Fedak, Director, Media Resources, also purchases audiovisual materials
based on professional review. Please read our collection development policy for more detailed information.
Faculty Requests
- Faculty member fills out Media Purchase/Preview
form with titles s/he wants purchased for the collection.
- Media Library Coordinator, Jean Reese, requests preview from
distributor if program has not previously been seen.
- Faculty member previews and evaluates (in writing) the program
requested.
- Manager purchases programs based on faculty evaluations.
New Materials list is available
online to see new titles added to the media collection each month.
Manager's Choice
The Media Library Coordinator previews and evaluates new programs and researches
professional review of new educational materials to make decisions
