Collections

The IMR Media Library’s collection of electronic non-print materials covers a wide range of subjects in support of the teaching and learning needs of MTSU faculty, and students. Formats include videocassettes, videodiscs, DVDs, films, audiocassettes and CDs, slides, CD-ROMs, computer software and and streaming media (video and audio). The collection is searchable through MTSU’s online catalog, Voyager.

Audiobooks

  • Books recorded on audiocassettes or CDs.
  • Adult fiction and non-fiction.
  • Primarily unabridged.

Audio Cassettes/CDs

  • Recorded programs.

Films/Motion Pictures

  • Film, video, laser disc, and DVD collections.
  • Educational/Documentary titles and feature films supporting the MTSU curriculum.

CD-ROMs

The Phillip C. Howard Music Library is located in IMR. Music Library materials may also be searched using the Voyager catalog.

Streaming Video and Audio

IMR has a core collection of 29 videos (Films on Demand) with more to come... that can be viewed on a computer with Internet access (preferably broadband). Faculty members may receive a password that permits access to the collection. Please contact Jean Reese for more information.

Alexander Street Press Streaming Video
Theatre in Video contains more than 250 definitive performances of the world's leading plays, together with more than 100 film documentaries, online in streaming video - more than 500 hours in all.

Multiple productions of Shakespeare's plays will allow for comparative analysis, showing various interpretations of the text and technical and cultural differences among the presentations. The stage work of legendary directors and actors are together for the first time, cross-searchable and available for side-by-side comparison. Interviews with directors, designers, writers and actors, along with excerpts of live performances.

Users can create personal playlists of clips, and also share those clips with other users on the site. There are also editorially selected themed playlists for users to browse. Access to Dance in Video and Counseling and Therapy in Video are also avaiable as well. A Pipeline account is necessary to access the videos off campus. Links to these sites can be found in Voyager.

Mike Wallace Interviews are available to anyone with a computer and Internet access (preferably broadband). The programs were recorded between 1957 - 1958.

Streaming Audio from the Lannan Foundation Audio Archives is available to anyone with a computer and Internet access.
