What services are offered by Instructional Media Resources (IMR)?
IMR provides audio-visual media and educational technology to support the teaching and learning activities of MTSU faculty and students. The library collection is in various formats including VHS, DVD, audiocassette, CD, CD-ROM and computer software. A computer lab provides access to both Windows and Macintosh computers; single-campus closed circuit cable system; satellite program downlink services.

 

Where is the Instructional Media Resources Library?
The IMR Library is located in Room 101 of the McWherter Learning Resources Center.

What are your hours?
Service is available seven days a week during Fall/Spring semesters except for holidays. Monday – Thursday 8:00 am – 10:00 pm; Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Saturday 12:00 noon – 4:00 pm; Sunday 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm. See IMR hours page for complete schedule.

Who can use the support, resources and equipment of IMR?
All MTSU faculty, staff, and students with a valid ID are eligible to use the services.

How may I submit a service request?

Can items be purchased for the collection?
Yes, most items are purchased upon recommendation of faculty for instructional support. Please contact Gail Fedak if you have suggestions for materials to be ordered or fill out the purchase/ preview request form and submit as directed.

Can I preview films and tapes?
Yes, we are happy to order previews for faculty who are considering purchase of a video. Take them to your office or view them on one of our workstations in the Library.

Can I reserve a film/video for use in my class?
Yes, please call the circulation desk at 2892 or stop by in person.

Do I need my ID card to check out a video?
Yes.

Even if it’s only for use in the IMR Library?
Yes.

What kinds of videos and films do you have?
We have a wide range of films/videos ranging from educational in nature to entertainment. Most videos are purchased through recommendations by faculty/staff.

How do I find videos and films?
Use Voyager, the online catalog and limit by location Instructional Media Resources before doing your search.

How do I find audio books?
We have an audiobooks guide with tips and suggestions to help you locate materials in our collection. The guide is a pdf while which can be easily printed.

How do I get the video?
Locate the call number that goes with the title and bring it and your ID to the circulation desk.

Can I watch movies and videos at the IMR Library?
Yes. We have video viewing stations available.

My professor put a video on reserve. How do I find it?
Check at the circulation desk.

How do I use the computers in the IMR lab?
Stop by the circulation desk with your ID to use a computer.
Patrons may reserve a computer up to 7 days in advance by stopping by the circulation desk. Reservations are held for 10 minutes.

Can I use the computers in Lab 101A or 101B?
Only LabA is available for open access when classes are not scheduled and a Lab Assistant is available. Look for a schedule of classes posted outside LabA. A printed copy is also available at the circulation desk.

Can I schedule a satellite downlink for a program I’m interested in?
