Satellite Program Downlinking Services
(Receiving Satellite Programs)
Instructional Media Resources provides facilities with downlink
capabilities for both C and Ku bands of satellite programming.
How to Request a Satellite Program Downlink
- Contact Jean Reese (2725) jreese@mtsu.edu with general information
(dates, times) to verify availability of satellite receiver.
- Request a room with a campus cable connection.
- Register for the downlink (via the program provider) .
- Near the date of the broadcast, the provider will supply satellite
technical information.
- Secure copyright permission to record program on videotape if
desired. For more than one copy, please secure additional permission
from provider.
- Fill out Instructional Media Resources Satellite
Request form and fax, mail or bring it to Instructional Media
Resources in LRC 101. Include a copy of license agreement and
written copyright permission.
- Please make arrangements and submit the form no later than 24
hours in advance of scheduled downlink. Weekends and holidays
are not included in the 24 hour notice deadline.
Costs
Some programs may be free, while others require a license fee.
Costs may range from a few dollars to several hundred dollars. The
department or individual requesting a satellite downlink is responsible
for all fees charged by the program provider. With proper copyright
clearance, IMR can also tape the program for viewing at a later
date.
Room Availability
Satellite programs can be viewed live and scheduled for
classrooms on campus with cable connections.

Videotape Copies of Program
Upon request, IMR will tape the program for later use if copyright
clearance has been obtained. It is the responsibility of the program
requestor to obtain this permission.
