Association
for Institutional Research (AIR) is the national professional
affiliate of over 3,100 institutional researchers, planners and
decision-makers from higher education institutions around the world.
As stated on its web site, the objective of AIR is to benefit its
members and help advance research that will improve the understanding,
planning and operations of higher education institutions.
The
Southern Association for Institutional
Research (SAIR) is the regional professional organization
for those involved in institutional research activities at institutions
of higher education in the South. As cited on its web site, SAIR
is dedicated to the advancement of research leading to improved
understanding, planning and operation of institutions of post-secondary
education. SAIR provides a forum for the dissemination of information
and exchange of ideas on problems of common interest in the field
of institutional research. The professional activities, publications
and collegial network provided by SAIR are intended to support the
successful and effective practice of higher education throughout
the region.
The
Tennessee
Association for Institutional Research (TENNAIR) serves
as the state-based support network for Institutional Research (IR)
and higher education professionals. According to its web site, through
TENNAIR, members can create friendships with colleagues throughout
the region, discuss IR and education issues, exchange ideas, share
data, and continue with ones professional development.
The
Internet Resources
for Institutional Research (IRIR) is a service of the
Association for Institutional Research and includes links to many
useful resources such as the National Center for Education Statistics
(NCES), Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) and Integrated
Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS).
