Services We Offer

The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) is the chief, central administrative unit for providing data about the University. One of the primary functions of the office is to provide data that support the University's institutional effectiveness, planning, decision-making and policy formation. The office provides data concerning all areas of the University to its administration, faculty, staff and students. Data are provided to administrative and academic units through various analyses, publications, standard reports, surveys and adhoc requests.

Another pivotal role of the office is serving as the University's primary source for data mandated by federal, state and regional agencies, guidebook publishers and other external publics. The information provided to guidebook publishers serves as a national data source for recruiting and public relations for the University. The office supplies annual updates on graduation and retention rates, including a comparison of the University's graduation rates with other TBR institutions. Numerous adhoc requests for information are received daily.

Complete the online Data Request Form to make an adhoc request.

Major MTSU Publications
Publications provided by the Office of Institutional Research include Student Profiles, MTSU Fact Card and the MTSU Fact Book. The MTSU Affirmative Action Facts-at-a-Glance publication is incorporated into the Fact Book that was initiated in 1994.

  • Student Profiles is published each semester and provides comprehensive data about the MTSU student body.
  • The MTSU Fact Card is published each fall semester and provides a convenient reference for some of the most frequently asked questions about the University, such as headcount, semester credit hours, FTE, financial aid, degrees conferred and total employees by category. The MTSU Fact Card is a convenient credit-card size and supplies users with important institutional data in a quick reference format.
  • The MTSU Fact Book provides comprehensive information about various components of the University. It is published annually during the fall semester.
