Faculty Experiences in the RODP

By: John St. Clair
Track 3 - Shaping a Transformative Learning Environment
Interest: Faculty :: Panel Discussion :: Level: All

Abstract

Faculty have been a vital part in the planning and delivery of RODP courses and are one of primary reasons for the overwhelming success of the Tennessee Board of Regents Online Degrees Program. A panel of RODP instructors will start by sharing their feelings, frustrations, and triumphs in developing, maintaining, and teaching courses in the WebCT environment. Others in the audience will be invited to share their experiences as well. Questions are welcome.

Description

This panel discussion will be an opportunity for community building for the RODP faculty as well as informative for those interested in how the program works. A panel of RODP professors will begin the discussion with the hope and expectation that this will spark discussion and motivate questions from the audience. The RODP faculty have a broard range of interests, abilities, and perspectives in teaching online. These include technical, practical, and pedagogical concerns. Because of the variety of experiences and the limited opportunites to gather as a group, I would expect this conversation to be extremely beneficial to the overall program as well as the system as a whole. Faculty, and others, not currently in the progrma may find this session clarifies many of their questions about teaching online, teaching with WebCT, and/or teaching in the RODP.
