Presentation Broadcasting with PowerPoint 2002

By: Lucia Vanderpool
Track 2 - Innovation and Future Implementation in Instructional Technology
Interest: General :: Workshop :: Level: Intermediate

Abstract

PowerPoint's Presentation Broadcasting feature allows you to create a presentation with video and audio narration, and then deliver it to an audience with members who can view your presentation at their own convenience. During this workshop, the instructor will guide you through the procedure to create your own broadcast. As you create your presentation, you will also have the opportunity to "try out" some of the new 2002 features including, the new task panels, TV-like animation effects, Print Preview, and more.

Description

How many times have you prepared a PowerPoint presentation for a class or meeting and then find that some participants cannot attend? This workshop will show you how to use PowerPoint to record and save your presentation as an Online Broadcast and then deliver it to an audience with members who are in different locations. Your audience members can then play back the broadcast at any time. This feature would be helpful whether you use it for meetings, seminars, face-to-face or web enhanced classes.

Participants in this hands-on workshop will create a PowerPoint presentation, using some of the key new features of the 2002 version of the software including:

  • task panels
  • animation and transition effects
  • multiple picture insertion and picture rotation
  • print preview

Once the presentation is created and saved, participants will complete the following steps to create the online broadcast:

  • record and save the broadcast (saves in HTML)
  • replay the broadcast for review
  • modify the lobby page as needed
  • move the recorded broadcast to a shared location
  • send your audience the broadcast link

A PowerPoint data disk and handouts with tips useful for any version of PowerPoint will be given to each attendee.
