Abstract

This is a presentation of how cognitive psychology and learning theory have been implemented in two accounting courses in the RODP program. The instruction has been under development for over ten years. The presenter has won an outstanding online instructor award for the RODP program.

Description

In this presentation, participants will see how the literature of adult learning and cognitive psychology have been implemented in a Web course that uses asynchronous methods to significantly increase learner outcomes in the two principles of accounting courses. The methods for implementing theory in practice are illustrated through actual instructional principles. Student comments are also included to reinforce the efficacy of the instructional methods. Participants will be given handouts as well as CD that contains the complete presentation, an extensive bibliography and a complete unit of instruction.
