Enhancing Online Learning with Real Time Student Participation Using v-mail and ExpressIT
AbstractInstructors will see how they can, over a 56k modem, add full audio/video interaction to online courses without plug-ins or special software. Virtual lectures can be given from the desktop to multiple students or off-site locations. Students can interact in virtual study groups or workshops, giving presentations to each other and receiving feedback. Attendees can bring some power point slides, digital photos or other electronic course materials that would normally be presented in a classroom for practice. DescriptionThis workshop will introduce and allow attendees to have hands on experience with the ExpressIT! System and V-Mail. The ExpressIT! System is a unique web-based solution, which seamlessly integrates multimedia communication, collaboration, and presentation functionality in an intuitive, streamlined interface. Operating exclusively within the browser, virtually no software is required for special download or configuration. Furthermore, as an integrated web utility, the system is inherently scalable, capable of supporting nearly any number of concurrent users. Users can harness the power of tools such as integrated messaging, content sharing, content authoring, and streaming media delivery. Combined with an intuitive interface, these and other features form a comprehensive yet flexible communication solution ideally suited to a host of applications from e-learning to business conferencing.
