d. Description (250-500 words) - During the fall of 2004 semester, it was brought to the APSU Online Committeeís attention that a need for enhanced, or blended, course standards existed. The Committee assigned a subcommittee which then proposed a definition for e-courses and policies relating to the development and teaching of e-courses. Next they researched the concept and developed recommendations to present to the Online Committee. The sub-committee investigated current research on standards for blended courses, looked into what other institutes of higher education were doing using standards, pulled from the research those concepts that were applicable to APSU and suggested a set of standards for the Online Committee at APSU to follow when developing and implementing a blended course. The Committee then chose which of the standards fit best with APSU and how they would implement the standards into practice at the university. Then they developed the guidelines and standards of practice for the faculty and course developers at APSU to follow. This session will discuss how APSU formatted the guidelines and standards and illustrate how they can be and have been implemented.
