Abstract:
Belmont University School of Nursing has recently begun using Sonic Foundry’s Mediasite technology to produce audio and video webcasting. This technology allows recording of classroom or lab activities for broadcast via the Internet for either live or asynchronous sessions. The School of Nursing is using Mediasite to expand the classroom, reach distance education students in a more interactive way, and allow students to view and record their own clinical skills for learning, practice, and evaluation. Mediasite improves the interactive nature of distance learning and allows live chat and polling in addition to video and audio broadcasting. This poster will describe our current use and plans for the future for webcasting. The poster session will also include a laptop demonstration of a Mediasite broadcast from our program.

This poster session is designed for all levels of faculty, lab directors, instructional technology specialists, administrators and others who might use this for live or distance learning environments. Equipment needs include table for poster, electric outlet for laptop and internet connection.
